What is the process for extending a COVID visa in Chiang Mai and do I need to worry about the 90-day report?

I just wanted to share my experience at chiang mai immigration today. I went for my second 60 days covid extension. Everything went smoothly enough, it almost seemed like a pleasant experience compared to Jomtien lol. I had to fill in the usual documents for visa extension. It was midly busy, so all in all it took about one hour start to finish. I was worried about the 90 days report, as it was my first time doing it, but they didn't mention anything about it. đŸ‘Œ

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shares a positive experience at Chiang Mai immigration for a second 60-day COVID visa extension. The process was smooth, taking about an hour, and there were no questions or concerns raised regarding the 90-day report, which was a source of initial worry.

Did you ask them if a 90 day report was required?

is the 90 days report for when you have been in TH for 90 days already? If I get my covid extension approved, ill be over 90 days. Also what did you put for COVID reason?

I'll tell you about my experience. I arrived here on a TR visa, so 60 days + 30 days. That would be 90 days in total. After that, I applied for my first 60 days covid extension in Pattaya. There was no mention of a 90 days report needing to be done. I asked this forum as well at the time and one of the mods told me that if the immigration didn't ask for a 90 days report, then I shouldn't do it. Now I went to apply for my second covid extension in CM and they wanted a 90 days report. I filled the paper, and that was it. So tbh, I don't understand how this works. It seems to be a grey area and up to every immigration office.

For the Covid reason, I just wrote : Covid 19. Honestly, I think they don't care.

, normal tourist entry goes actually 59+30days so it wouldn't reach 90days. Especially for Covid extension as this is the temporary measurement, each immigration office has a different policy for a 90days report.

for the COVID-19 reason, put down the proper reason. Did you read my pinned post?

I read the post but curious what I can put for the "OTHER" reason on the form

for Americans, you will check the box saying the country does not issue the letters, and depending on the immigration office you are using, attach a screenshot of the US Embassy website where it says they do not issue the letters.

the 90 day report may be required when a person is in Thailand for more than 90 days OR if they are on an extension of stay/ admitted to stamp that is longer than 90 days.

If you are required to file a 90 day report and you did not, you will be fined 2K THB the next time you do something at the immigration office

Would you need to do a 90 day report? I don’t know, ask your immigration office.

I didn't ask, but the 90 days report was on the list of the required documents to fill, so I just filled the form. They didn't mention anything about me not having done a previous 90 days report. They just gave me my first 60 days extension stamp, and have to come back in two weeks
