TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to extend a 30-day visa on arrival at a local immigration office in Thailand. The process typically costs 1,900 THB and requires a copy of the passport data page, entry stamp, and departure card. It is advised to submit the extension request up to three days before the original visa expires, as the additional 30 days granted will be added to your stay.

Where are you staying in Thailand? Most offices allow extensions any time...Pattaya/Jomtien submit extension request up to three days before.

The 30 days granted are ADDED to your stay...so by going in early you do not lose any days.
