Hello, I am a Canadian who arrived on a 30 day Visa on Arrival which will expire on May 5th. I have received a teaching job offer and I need to extend my visa in order to allow time to get all the requirements I need (police clearance, medical check etc). I have a trip planned to get my new visa to process work permit on May 28th if I go to Immigration can I extend my VOA for another 30 days? I’ve looked online and have heard you can only extend a VOA for 7 days. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian citizen can extend their Visa on Arrival (VOA) for an additional 30 days at a local Immigration Office in Thailand. Although there is a common misconception that the extension is limited to only 7 days, this is not the case for Canadians who are on a 30-day Visa Exempt Entry. It is advisable to go early to the immigration office, as it tends to be busy, and to ensure that you complete the process before your current visa expires.
