Yes I’ve done it for 25 years no issues, but the airline might ask for a return ticket, that’s where the problem can arise , then you buy a throwaway ticket onwardticket.com

I came in with no return ticket..no questions asked..i just extend before 30 days then do a border run for another 30 days, they fly out to come back with a 60 days visa from the Thai consulate abroad

Anything is possible. But as you know, proof of onward travel is required, so they may check you for it. You should at least have a Plan B (something you could instantly book, should you get checked).

I have always book and purchase an onward or return ticket for 60 days and enter visa exempt 30 days and never been questioned by airline or immigration in 30 years of visiting Thailand or anywhere in sth East Asia never had an issue getting extension of stay not saying being questioned can't happen but never happened to me as yet touch wood

Risky!! This would not have worked with Thai Airways flying out of Zurich as extentions are not guaranteed....onward ticket dot com and similar can sort you out.

Book a bus ticket from nong khai to Vientiane only £12 that's what I did it's your proof of onward travel

In theory immigration could ask to see onward travel within the days allowed via your entry method but they rarely would as they know you can get an extension.

However your airline may be the stumbling block. Some may insist on an onward ticket out of Thailand within the number of days allowed because extensions are “not guaranteed” and therefore could be liable for a fine if you are not allowed entry for whatever reason. Some don’t seem to care. Others do. Ask them for their policy.
