Can I extend a Non-O visa in Thailand for an additional 90 days, or should I apply for a marriage visa?

I have hope to stay in Thailand for around 6 months. I will enter under a type non 0 staying with family 90 day visa. Are you able to extend this in Thailand for another 90 days or would I need to apply for a marriage visa? What are the advantages to each if they are both possible?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The non-O visa allows for limited extensions in Thailand, specifically two possible extensions - one for 60 days to visit Thai family and another 12-month extension based on marriage. Applying for a marriage visa might be more beneficial if you meet the requirements, which typically leads to a longer stay. Alternatives like student visas are also suggested, but not directly related to the question.

If you are married to a Thai get the right visa and comply with the requirements.

Stop trying to do things on the cheap, that’s why Immigration is tightening things up.

No. There are only 2 extensions available on that visa. Either the standard 12 month extension based on marriage OR a 60 day extension based on visiting Thai family
