NEVER EVER trust a thai consulate/embassy worker at a thai consulate outside thailand about anything to do with a visa or extension INSIDE thailand

AND

NEVER EVER trust a thai immigration officer at an immigration office inside thailand about anything to do with a visa from a thai consulate outside thailand.

They are two completely different governmental organizations and don't have any idea what each other do.

you can't apply for an extension on ANY visa until you have 45 days or less left on your entry stamp SO if you're comin' in on a 60 day tourist visa stamp you have to wait TWO weeks before you can apply for the 30 day extension at Chaengwattana Immigration office

Extensions aren’t done at the airport. You must go to the immigration office. Plan the whole day.
