Hi all

I am going to Thailand in 8 days and didn’t apply for a single entry 60 day visa online

I can enter on a visa exempt from ireland in 8 days and it will not be a problem ?

If you know what is needed in the airport that would be helpful also

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and answer if you can

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, as an Irish citizen, you can enter Thailand under the visa exemption rule, which allows for a stay of up to 60 days. When you arrive at the airport, you will typically just need to present your passport and possibly a return or onward ticket. While it’s technically required to show 20,000 baht in cash, this is rarely checked. Most travelers report that immigration officers ask minimal questions upon entry.

the stories are for people with extended travel history into the country, is it your first time coming to Thailand? Then you have nothing to worry about as Jan said in comments show your exit flight in 8 days if asked for it. Enjoy 😊

Always apply for a multiple entry Visa it’s safer

I got in on Oktober 23, staying for 58 days (back in the Netherlands now).

I was going to stay at my girlfriends place, and travel a bit together.

At the airport no questions were ask. Just a check of my passport (not even the boardingpass). So no inquieries about where I was going to stay (I had her address prepared on print in three languages). No proof of flight back or even when. I just got a stamp... mind you, this was my third entry this year. First in January with a visa (it was longer than 30 days). Then, after a month in Australia, I came back for 12 days (the love is strong 😊), 30 day visa exempt. And, this time 60 days exempt. Easy peasy...

This Thursday I flew back home. I checked through customs with passport (self)scan and facial recognition. No questions ask, no proof of where I had been (TM30, which we did not enter. But that could have been a problem if I had decided tot extend 30 days at immigration. It was tempting, but I didn't want any hassle and maybe have to convince an officer that I am really a tourist visiting his girlfriend, and maybe get rejected because of playing with the exempt system. And you only prolong the hurt of leaving for 30 days).

Your passport.. Officially you need also a return ticket or ticket out of Thailand before the 60 days and the equivalent of 20k in cash... Though highly unlikely to be asked for those

But the amazing thing is you waiting so near departure to sort this out?

thanks Mate

Basically I have everything ready and thought the application approval was fast :) that’s why I left it

Thank you

it's your airline that might question you about a return ticket. A lot of people get a disposable ticket just in case. Google onward ticket. It's about £14 and put it in the bin after you get there.

Better safe than sorry.

@Ray **********
what application and approval? There's nothing... Your lucky with you leaving it so late to find out.

for the single entry visa online :) I was told it takes 5-10 working days

you continue to miss my point for some reason.. You dont need a visa, 60 day exempt available.

Blah blah... My actual point is you waiting till just 8 days before to departure to actually find out whats required?? 😳
Ralph *******
You should get a 60 day visa exemption on arrival.

Technically, you need a ticket out of Thailand dated within that 60 days and 20,000 baht in cash. But, these are only checked on very rare occasions. However, your airline is much more likely to check your exit ticket before allowing you to board.

Don't worry, you will get 60 days visa when you arrive. No problem. You never get checked for any of the bs you read about.
Steven *******
I've been asked for an onward tickets about as many times as I've not been asked.

@Pygo *******
no im not American and I'm fully aware of my visa requirements
Pygo ********
Ah! Because you are a brainless American, right.

@Pygo *******
I agree was so worried as didn't have an onward ticket but the airline didn't ask and neither did immigration. Might be as first time here in years and not doing border runs.
Pygo ********
@Gillian ******
if you are really worried (like I was before I got here) buy an 'onward ticket' cost me about £15 but I never had to show it.
Ralph *******
@Gillian ******
I have been asked by the airline for my exit ticket from Thailand on my last 3 trips. It does happen and I think it’s becoming more common.
Pygo ********
@Ralph ******
yes, the airlines are getting stricter about the rules now.
Adam *****
Ireland is on this list, so you can enter visa exempt 60 days
Jan ******************
With a Irish passport you’ll get your 60 days free stamp upon arrival. I guess you also have a retur or onward ticket within these 8 days so you’ll be fine regarding this requirement too. (If your airline ask during check-in)
Michael **********
You will also need either an outgoing or round-trip ticket... Don't think there's anything else..

(I entered from the US a month ago and immigration didn't really ask for anything

(how much cash do I have, etc)
Bob **********
@Michael *********
so why are you saying get an onward ticket??it’s the airlines that usually asks
Ray ***********

@Bob *********
thank I’ll call the airline

@Bob *********
Right, maybe he's not aware of that requirement upon departure

(He asked what is needed at the airport)

For 99.9% of people you'll just need your passport and your boarding pass for your final segment to Thailand. Hand those to the immigration officer and you'll get your entry stamp.
