I want to arrive in Thailand with the ferry between Langkawi (Malaysia) to Koh Lipe (Thailand). Of course, I will apply online in advance for a tourist e-visa and print it. Can I use this e-visa to enter Thailand at the Koh Lipe immigration office? I think the answer is YES but I want to be sure. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can enter Thailand at the Koh Lipe immigration office using a valid e-visa obtained online, as entry is permitted at any entry point with a valid visa.

You’ll have 90 days to enter on your e visa

You can enter Thailand with a valid visa at any entry point. The question is where you are now as to whether you can apply online for a visa.

Maybe that will clarify the story. I'm a US citizen.

i'm presently in the US. But in September , I will be in Malaysia for 1 month prior to my entry at the Koh Lipe island. I will apply online with my laptop from Malaysia. Is it a problem?

You can apply online for a visa in the US but they will want to see proof of travel to Thailand.

To get the visa in Malaysia it is apply in person only, not online. KL, Penang or Kota Bharu.

Thanks for all your great info. I will apply in person for my Thailand tourist visa in KL or Penang and I will fly directly to Phuket or Krabi. No more ferry to Koh Lipe. Snif!

Kl requires an appointment. Penang does not.

Thanks for your great information but that raises more questions. what about .. in Malaysia with a VPN and in my online e-visa I will include my ferry ticket, my room reservation and an exit flight ticket to prove my exit from Thailand? if not possible, if I apply in the USA 2 months in advance before my entry, does my e-visa still be valid in october?

The visa would be valid for 90 days from issue, but you’ll probably find the US consulate would require proof of your travel to Thailand. I do not know if they would accept a ferry ticket from Malaysia only. Try contacting the consulate you’d use by email or messenger to ask them directly.

But a flight ticket from Penang to Phuket should be fine? right? Do I absolutely need a flight ticket from the US to Thailand?

a US consulate is not going to issue you a visa without proof of travel from the US to Thailand.

almost certainly yes but each consulate sets its own rules so cannot be certain. As an answer to the second part.
