I am traveling from England in Thursday my visa as not come yet and I don’t think it will come in time. Will I still be able to get in as a tourist for 30 days with no visa ?.

I left Thailand on the 8/4/26 on a o visa not overstaying my visa period
Answer summary
The current situation for entry into Thailand allows for a visa-exempt stay of up to 60 days for many travelers, including those from England. Although the original question was regarding a potential timeframe issue with a visa application, multiple comments confirm that the individual can still enter Thailand without a visa and receive a 60-day stay upon arrival. Some comments emphasize the necessity of having an onward ticket and sufficient financial resources when entering. Concerns about visa types and the transition to a retirement visa are also discussed, highlighting the importance of following immigration requirements and staying updated on any changes to visa policies.

Martyn Goddard when you apply for a METV, the embassy usually will take care you do not lose too many days of the 6-months visa validity, that's why they wait until 2 or 3 days before your intended flight date. However when you apply for a single entry tourist visa or for a single entry Non-Imm-O Visa, there is no need to wait until a few days before the flight date, as you have 90 days to use the visa for one single entry, and after that the visa itself is invalid - contrary to the multi entry TR visa which remains valid for full 6 months from the date of issue

I had a similar situation a couple of years ago, with my Non O visa not ariving on time,so I came got the 60 days on entry, done a 30 day extension, in the meantime my visa came through

Me and the family had a holiday in Vietnam and returned to activate my visa, some people may remember when I done the 30 day extension, at my local immigration office, they wrongly stamped my extension for a year,we were took to one side at Donmuang airport for about 1 hour they reduced it back to 30 days

This sentence leaves me totally wondering WHAT do you mean with that?

“I left Thailand on the
***
/26 on a o visa not overstaying my visa period”

*** When did you enter on the 90-days Non-Imm-O Visa ?

*** How long did you stay on that 90-days Non-O Visa ?

*** WHAT is a “visa period”? Do you mean the period of the “VISA VALIDITY” or do you mean the period of the stamped “ADMITTED STAY” ??

*** what does not having overstayed the permitted stay permit zo do with your planned visa-exempt entry?

*** WHICH visa category have you now applied and are you waiting for ?

I was out there on a o done all that was needed for my retirement visa but had problems with my bank transferring money had to go back to England to sort my account out. The money as been in a Thai bank for nearly 3 months now. I need to go to my Thai bank at 3 months and get a letter and take it to immigration then hopefully I will have my retirement visa then.

Vince Wheeler “I need to go to my Thai bank at 3 months and get a letter and take it to immigration then hopefully I will have my retirement visa then.”

*** if you enter visa-exempt, you still get stamped in for 60 days. You then must apply for the “change of visa type” to the initial 90-days Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa.

You need a minimum of 15 workdays left on your visa-exempt admitted stay permit, in order to be able to apply for the “change!

*** after you get the 90-days Non-Imm-O Visa stamped, you must wait until 30 days are left of this 90-days stay permit.

*** you will then use the bank letter and apply not for the retirement visa,, but you apply for the one-year extension of the temporary stay permit based on retirement (which many people call wrongly “retirement visa” but which is not a visa at all but simply an extended stay permit)

*** If your newly applied 90-days Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa gets issued BEFORE you fly, then you will get stamped in for a 90-days admitted stay permit.

You will then only have to wait until 30 days are left of this 90-days stay permit, before you apply for the 1-year extension. You will need the bank letter and 1900 Baht fee.

*** KEEP IN MIND: Immigration will only service you if you are properly registered in an accommodation by the TM30 system

Vince Wheeler please watch your wording. A visa is used to enter, and once you entered, you do not have a visa, you are in Thailand on a stay permit. What you call "retirement visa" actually is the 90-days Non-O Visa. The 1-year extension is not a retirement visa, it is a one-year stay permit (a "1-year extension of stay permit based on retirement"). . . . .Your plan to enter visa-exempt or on a tourist visa is good, you will be able to apply on Immigration for the "change of visa type" from a touristic entry to the initial 90-days Non-Imm-O Visa. The fee is 2000 Baht. For this, you need a rental contract and you need to prove that a minimum of 800,000 THB is already sitting in your Thai bank account. And you need to prove that this money has come from abroad. At this moment, there is no requirement for a seasoning of the deposit. Only when the 90-days stay permit is at 30 days until its expiry, you can apply for the "1-year extension of the stay permit". The fee is 1900 Baht. For this application, you need the bank letter that confirms the deposit has been in your account for a minimum of 2 months . . . . .NOTE: the Immigration Jomtien has slightly different requirements than the official police order. You would need to pick up their list of requirements as soon as possible after you entered in case you use this Immigration. You should ask for this list anyways, regardless where you want to apply

The UK Embassy often send the visa a few days before flight date

Peter West When you apply for a multi-entry tourist visa type, the embassy usually will take care you do not lose too many days of the 6-months visa validity, that's why they wait until 2 or 3 days before your intended flight date.

However, when you apply for a single-entry tourist visa or for a single-entry Non-Imm-O Visa, there is no need for the embassy to wait until a few days before your flight date.

You always have 90 days from the date of issue to use the visa for one single entry, and after that the visa itself is invalid - contrary to the multi entry TR visa which remains valid for full 6 months from the date of issue.

Bob Howe It’s very confusing. We are coming mid August. We have a holiday home and stay for about 90 days twice a year. In the past we came in under the 60 days visa free entry and then extended it for a further 30 days at the Immigration Office. Now we’ve read that this is no longer possible! Maybe apply for a 90 day multi-entry Retirement Visa?

Visa exempt entry remains at 60 days at the moment. What other history do you have of spending time inside Thailand in the last 12 to 18 months other than that 90 day Non-O visa?

That's going to be the deciding factor plus your airline may insist you have a return ticket. It would be better to contact the embassy and request they expedite your visa.

Vince Wheeler you'll be OK, it starts to be a problem with immigration if you keep going In without any visa 😉 But you should make sure you can show onward travel within the 60 days visa exempt and enough money in cash , 👍😎✌

You will fly through immigration mate do not worry at all you’ll get 60’days exempt but you will need a non o stamp in your passport to convert to retirement visa ? Or have I misunderstood this ? Did you apply for a re entry permit or has the 90 days lapsed ? More information needed really Vince
