Can I directly apply for a spouse visa from a Non-IB visa without getting a tourist visa first?

Currently on a Non-IB visa with BOI work permit. Married and having 400K in the bank and looking to get a spouse visa since I will be leaving the current employer. Do I have to get a tourist visa first before proceeding or is it possible to go from one directly to the other?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of applying for a spouse visa while transitioning from a Non-IB visa depends on your current visa status. If you are on an extension of stay, you can apply for the spouse visa without leaving Thailand, by canceling your work permit and extension at the OSOS and then applying for the new extension at the local immigration office. However, if you are still on the original Non-IB visa, you will need to leave Thailand to apply for the Non-O marriage visa and start the process from scratch.

I will reopen this post when checking the details. Until then, this is temporarily closed.

What you do will depend on whether you are on a visa or an extension of stay. Look in your passport and see which it is

this 2 year visa (single entry) is valid until September 2024

then I don't think you can just switch to an extension of stay for another purpose. When you stop work you may have to leave the country to get off the visa and then apply for a non-o based on marriage When you return

Yes, you can apply for a 1-year extension based on being married to a Thai once you cancel your WP and extension from the company. <- you don't have to leave Thailand IF you are already on an extension.

Apply for cancellation WP and extension at OSOS, then go to the local immigration office to apply for a new 1-year extension. Go to the local office to get the latest handout for a 1-year extension based on marriage to a Thai in advance.

In case you are still on the first stamp from a Non-IB visa, you have to leave Thailand once to do the application for Non-O marriage visa and following extensions from scratch.
