Can I delay the activation of my Non-O visa after applying for it in Singapore?

Question: Is it possible to get a Non-O visa granted but NOT use it till a month later?

I am going to Singapore so thought I'd go ahead and apply for my visa there.

However, I don't need to or want it activated yet, as I'd like to use my visa exempt option one more time since I will be travelling to the UAE in a month after I return to Bangkok. Now after my trip to the UAE, I would like to then activate and use my Non-O visa for entry back into the country.

Would this be possible? A delayed activation and use of a non-imm. visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question discusses whether one can obtain a Non-O visa while traveling in Singapore and postpone its activation until after a future trip to the UAE. Comments emphasize that visas are typically recorded in the passport and may be automatically activated upon entry, regardless of the applicant's intentions to delay its use.

You need to be aware that you cannot just ramp up and apply for a visa in Singapore.

First of the application is done online, then you turn the documents in.

They will then contact you to let you know when you can collect your passport.

Yes I understand the Embassy procedure there in SG.

The visa is going to be a big full page sticker in your passport. They will definitely see it when you go to passport control.

The best you can do is ask them not to use it, but they will probably use it either way.

There have been 2 reports of people arriving with evisa which isn't in the passport and not wanting to use it but the immigration officer saw they had a visa on the computer and forced them to use it even though they didn't present it. So odds are you'll be required to use it even if you ask not to.

Thanks! So best to do it after I return from Dubai. I've only flown into Thailand twice this year (before that, had my Non-O visa) so I think I should be able to return from Singapore one more time on my visa exempt.
