Hello friends,
I am back in France, working on getting my Non O so I can return to Thailand and get my ‘retirement visa’.
Unfortunately the Thai Embassy in Paris takes a very long time to issue visas so, hypothetically: if I don’t get the Non O in time for my flight, can I enter on Visa Exempt and then when the Non O arrives by email, can I ‘validate it’ without having to return all the way to France? Would this be risky or unadvisable in any way?
Thanks for your precious advice! Have a nice night (or day if you read this tomorrow).
Kay
P.s. It’s freezing here in France, 8 degrees Celsius! That’s really cold for this season, even for the Alps where I live. Having said that, I don’t miss the 42 degrees in Thailand in April! Wicked! I had never experienced heat so intense. Thank God for AC ☺️
TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is seeking advice on whether they can enter Thailand on a visa-exempt basis while waiting for their Non-O visa to be issued by the Thai Embassy in Paris. They express concerns about potential timeline conflicts, especially if the embassy delays the visa issuance, and if it's advisable to enter Thailand first and later validate the Non-O visa without returning to France. The community suggests that entering on a visa exempt is possible, but the Non-O visa must be validated by leaving the country after receiving it via email. Additionally, there are discussions about bank account requirements, options for obtaining an income affidavit, and the process for converting a visa exemption to a Non-O visa directly in Thailand.
