Hello,

Our kids are on Extension of Stay with Non-O visa. We are going to Immigration to ask to change to Non-ED. (With papers from their school).

Could you confirm that we go out with the new visa on the same day? I understand that this is a change of reason for the Extension of stay.

Thanks a lot in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking confirmation on whether they can change their children's visa from a Non-O to a Non-ED visa in a single day at the immigration office. They have the necessary documents from their school. However, comments suggest inconsistency in immigration procedures and that kids on a Non-O visa can attend school without needing an ED visa. Some advise against making the change unless necessary due to specific age-related visa restrictions.

You are being misinformed. Do Not change your kids visa extension. They do not need an ED visa to go to any school. You can even go to school on a tourist visa. People use the ED visa as a way to stay long term in Thailand, but there are no requirements that you must have an ED visa to go to any school. Again, Do Not change your kids visa. They can legally go to school under the visa extension they are on now, unless their age is becoming a problem for their current extension, over 20.

Nobody can answer that. Unfortunately, exact required documents and the procedures differ and are inconsistent between immigration offices (heck, even individual officers). So, a good start would be to mention where / what immigration office you plan to visit.
