Hey Thinking of booking Emirates flights to Krabi and we'll be transiting through Dubai I have to take Amitriptyline for back pain I've googled this medication and the advice isn't clear On a TripAdvisor forum it says its on the banned list but it's 5 years out of date I've emailed the UAE website and had no response I know there's a page where you have to upload medication for permission to travel with it Has anyone used Emirates flights with prescribed controlled drugs? Did you have issues?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers carrying Amitriptyline while flying with Emirates and transiting through Dubai have shared positive experiences. Key advice includes keeping the medication in its original packaging with prescription details, carrying a prescription (original or copy), and only bringing a supply sufficient for the duration of the trip. It was noted that having proper documentation mitigates issues with airport customs.

I’ve had 4 Emirates flights where I have carried in my hand luggage a months worth of Amitriptyline with no issues at all, would suggest you take your repeat prescription with you and ensure the medication is in its original box with your prescription label on (assuming you are from the UK)

It's readily available in pharmacies here and not expensive.

Bring the medication in its original packaging with your prescription details on the label. Only bring enough for your needs for the duration of the trip and bring the prescription from your doctor (or copy if original not available).

The prescription, pharmacy label & your passport all link the prescribed medication to you and you’ll not have any problems.

People can have problems when they have nothing linking them to the medication & bring 3 months supply for a 2 week holiday.

I have had to take this medication when travelling aswell, (now on Gabapentin.) I've only ever made sure I've taken it in the prescribed box that states my name, dob etc, and taken just over enough for my length of stay. And wherever possible the prescription. I've carried it with me and not in suitcase.

Never had a problem whilst transiting through any airport .
