TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers flying with Emirates from Bangkok to the UK via Dubai may not need an RT PCR test if they are vaccinated and have booked a day 2 test in the UK. Proof of vaccination and completion of a Passenger Locator Form are necessary instead. Confirmation is advisable through Emirates' official website for the most current information.

Flew Friday 15th….. BKK to DXB to MAN. Covid test NOT required if vaccinated and day 2 test booked in the UK. Only needed to show vaccine certification and Passenger Locator Form.

Here is the Emirates website to answer your questions…
so travelling from Thailand is not mentioned so therefore test not required for transit in Dubai. Whereas traveling from UK test is required as it clearly states. The need for a test travelling from Thailand to UK should only be if not vaccinated. How on earth airline officials are meant to keep up with this I’ve no idea. As James mentioned it’s easier just to have a test to make life easier if asked.

Yes they do. I flew on Sunday. It will be checked at check-in and maybe again at the connection.
yep I totally don’t get it. I was personally at Phuket airport with her at check in so 100% sure it wasn’t asked for. Maybe the confusion comes from the need for a PCR test coming from UK with Emirates but not going to UK 🤷
I must have psychosis then 🤪. I was asked for it at checking along with my vaccination certificate and U.K. locator form. On landing in Dubai the air crew made an announcement to have the RT-PCR test ready. In Dubai at the entrance to the gate some people (not all) were asked to show it. 🤷‍♂️. U.K. didn’t ask to see anything, only my passport. 🤷‍♂️. I think the information is contradictory. Attached is an email from them before I flew.
certain countries of which Thailand is not one of them. Strange indeed as my daughter flew from Phuket to Birmingham via Dubai 2 days ago and no test was required.
