TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among commenters is that while booking flights can be done, it is advisable to wait before finalizing accommodation, visa, quarantine hotel, and other related requirements until closer to the travel date, as the situation regarding travel regulations may change.

Frankly speaking it's way too early to know what the rules will be in January 2022. Watch for news updates.

You can but the way things are I would start the ball rolling asap. It took me about 4 months to make everything fine. Many obstacles to cross!

No good starting 4 months in advance, if you're applying for a tourist visa, which you need to do first, it would've expired before you enter the country.

talking about the whole package starting with flights etc I'm already in Thailand and everything went smoothly. So just my way of doing things. I just wanted the questioner to know there may be many hurdles to jump. So best be prepared.

noted! But if you need a visa and the necessary documents. Book asq hotel or sandbox. Book flights. Apply COE. All need careful consideration. Bearing in mind that Thailand will join the red list as of August 30th

so easy for you with your experience but not as easy for others from different destinations. For example from uk I received COE within 2 hours but a friend of mine in the USA waited 15 days.

Visa you have 3 months from issue to enter country so nothing wrong with applying in December.

I very much doubt will still be COE in January but you never know
