Hello everyone! I hope somebody can help clarify the following, since I've heard different answers to the same question.
While applying (say, in Vietnam), can I return to Thailand and wait here?, or do I need to stay in Vietnam until the Visa is approved?
Apologies if this has already been mentioned, I couldn't find anything when searching for this topic in previous posts.
Many thanks in advance :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among commenters suggests that applicants must remain in Vietnam while their visa application is being processed. It is emphasized that returning to Thailand could lead to visa rejection, as the Embassy can verify the applicant's location during the application process. Many recommend being cautious and staying outside Thailand to avoid complications.

You have to be outside all the time because no one knows when they perform your background check. We got a person denied for the same reason that he visited Thailand after applying DTV. Better safe than sorry because it's a costly visa.
You must get the latest visa stamped on the passport at the immigration while entering hence you must be outside Thailand throughout the period till you get the visa approved.
If they find that you are not still in the country they can, and do, reject your application. Lots of the time when they have doubts if you are still in the country they will ask for a copy of every page of your passport, even the blank pages. You can take your chance, and risk the bt10,000 application fee if you are wrong.
There are previous posts about exactly this. The Embassy in Vietnam can see on the system if you are in Thailand during the application process. Someone was recently caught out by this.
