Can I apply for a visa in Thailand as a spouse of a Veteran receiving disability benefits, and how should I proceed with my children's applications?

I have a question regarding the visa application process. As the spouse of a Veteran who receives disability benefits, which serve as our primary source of income, I am unsure about the application procedure. Will my husband be able to include our children and me under his visa, or do I need to submit a separate application? If so, should I attach his benefit checks as proof of income?

Also is it true it is better to fill out the application two weeks after you land in Thailand?.. We’re planning our move in October.

Thank you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the visa application process in Thailand as the spouse of a Veteran receiving disability benefits. They want to know if they can be included under their husband's visa or if separate applications are needed, and whether to submit benefit checks as income proof. Comments reveal that the DTV may not qualify for benefits related to disability and that it's essential to get the primary holder's visa approved first to apply for dependents. Clarifications about the DTV categories and specific requirements for various visa types were provided.

If you are sending children to school here there are "Guardian" visas while your children are in school. It must be said the private/international schools are not cheap.

DTV may not be the best visa fit for you and your family. It may be worthwhile to look at all the visa types and their requirements on the Thai visa website

There is no visa particularly for veterans or people receiving disability benefits nor are there special dispensations with the other visa requirements Good luck

There are 2 categories of DTV. 1) Workaytion where you work as a digital Nomad in Thailand remotely 2) Soft Power train in Muay Thai, Cookery School Medical treatment. Entry is for 180 days each entry. This can be extended once per entry for 180 days but you need to show all documents to show you still qualify for the DTV. The other option is a border run every 6 months. The costs of doing this need to be taken into consideration

You definitely need to choose a scheme to qualify. If medical soft power you'll need paperwork from a Thai hospital/doctor outlining a series of treatments/appointments lasting at least 6 months.

Curious what scheme you initially planned on using?

I have no idea if this is possible just throwing it out there. The Soft Power medical option is for someone receiving treatment in Thailand. This can be at a hospital or dental. I am pretty sure the VA has the Foreign Medical Program here at a few hospitals. Have a Google and maybe this is an option?

I have no idea about the VA program but I have seen DTV Soft Power approved for medical for 3 month checkups for 1) Diabetes 2) Rheumatoid Athritis. It is all down to the documentation the hospital or clinic will provide. Good luck.

I think you need to see how you qualify for the DTV. I assume a soft power like cooking classes. You need 500,000 baht in a checking account for 6 months. Have you traveled to Thailand lately?

this best to visit first to see if you like it. Plus not a cheap as it use to be so depending on budget might be a factor

Being disabled or a veteran does not qualify for the DTV. You might want to try under soft power (medical treatment), if the disability requires treatment.

you can't apply for a DTV when you're IN thailand, you get it from a thai consulate in another country.

AND

if you're using your husband as the primary DTV holder (for what ever category he signs up for) you have to get that visa issued before you or the children could apply for your "dependent" (spouse/children) DTV's because his visa is the proof you need for your applications under dependent category.

I'd apply for his visa end of Aug, once it's approved, then apply for yours and the childrens and then ALL come in on DTV's
