Hi there,

I’m currently applying for a tourist visa online. I’m actually in Cambodia but I will enter Thailand via Laos, is it a problem?

For the supporting documents I uploaded my entry stamp in Cambodia as proof of current location but for « travel booking confirmation » I will put my bus ticket from Laos to Thailand.

Is it valid or will it get denied ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a tourist visa online while currently in Cambodia and plans to enter Thailand via Laos. They question the validity of using a bus ticket from Laos as a travel booking confirmation. Comments suggest that, as a Canadian passport holder, they are eligible for a 60-day visa exemption, meaning they might not need a visa at all. However, there is uncertainty about entering Thailand with a visa issued in Cambodia, and concerns about immigration officers potentially viewing their visa status unfavorably.

having a tourist visa may not make much difference. It will be up to the immigration officer you will stand in front of, but I don't see much difference between visa exempt and a tourist visa as they are both issued for tourism not to allow you to live inside Thailand. Why not apply for a DTV if that's what you want to do?

A visa doesn't help much if an IO feels like you are living here in TRs.

Thanks for your advices. My passport is from EU but I already stayed 3x times with visa exemptions in the past year so I just want to be careful and avoid to be denied at the border by applying to get a proper visa.

As
@To**
states, if you hold a Canadian or any other passport from this you can enter Thailand and stay for 60 days without any visa.

Generally you might also enter Thailand through Laos with a visa issued in Cambodia, but they might require proof of further travel into Thailand and all embassies/consulate do e-visa now.
