Answer summary
Yes, you can apply for a Thailand tourist visa using a UK travel document (specifically a 1951 Convention Travel Document). Many users in the discussion confirmed that this type of document is accepted for visa applications via the Thai e-visa platform. It's important to ensure all information is accurate when applying, as errors may lead to application rejection. Always consider verifying details with the Thai embassy for the most reliable guidance.

That is a refugee travel document. And refugees can use that to travel out of the UK but they cannot travel to their home country with that document they can also use that to come back to the UK. This is for people who are refugees in the UK but cannot obtain a British passport yet or haven't gotten one yet but they need to travel for some reason.
I would think if you went to the Thai Embassy in the UK to get a visa before leaving you should be ok as they will know what that is. Just turning up and expect it to be treated the same as a passport by whoever is on duty will almost certainly be NO. Yes E Visa may work too but for me if there is a grey area I like to talk to people as then I can ask all the questions at one time and get the answers from a real person.
Yes u can, just go to the thai evisa website and apply for one. One thing is that they wont give u DTV because thats not a passport. Because i wasted 300 pounds applying for one. U can certainly get a tourist visa. multiple or single. Just get the documents right
But as it’s been said hundreds of times here, why would you trust strangers in an advice group when we have access to embassies and formal immigration sites at our fingertips.
Richard Cook Because many would much prefer to read it in simple, non-contradictory language from a regular human rather than a complicated diatribe on an embassy website. Probably.
Richard Cook not that easy for uncommon documents and google ai is a terrible place to be asking such complex immigration questions. terrible advice and NO its not that easy. How I know? I travelled to thai using it
Yes, anyone with a valid and unexpired Refugee Travel Document Book, Certificate of Identity Book, U.S. Re–Entry Permit (DHS Travel Document) Book, Reiseausweis Book, etc. can definitely Apply for and Get issued a Thai E–Visa PDF File, such as a Single Entry Tourist E–Visa (SETV)
it has always been possible for decades to get a Thai Visa (even SETV) from a Thai Embassy or Thai Consulate outside of Thailand using such Travel Document Books
Double Check and Verify Again that you input/select the Nationality Correctly for your specific Travel Document Book:
otherwise, your Thai E–Visa Application may be Cancelled/Rejected and Not able to be Amended/Changed if incorrect Travel Documents details are inputed/selected and the E–Visa Application Fee is Not Refundable in such circumstances
Thai Jag not all refugees are completely broke. Some work, some have businesses, some are artists. For me, I have savings and investments. But not a lot maybe a few couple thousands which I use to travel. I graduated from the uk.
If you are not aware, once a person is granted ‘refugee status’ in the uk, he has the right and freedom to do almost anything a British citizen or permanent resident can, except maybe joining the British army and voting in some cases and a few more restrictions, most importantly; not going back to ur own country u fled from as it’s dangerous for you.
There are too much misconceptions around refugees hence the hate which I understand and happy to answer all ur questions.
Gozzo Augustus I need an explanation why refugees are going on overseas holidays despite, presumably, being in dire straits. Stateless I can understand.
Michael Cessaro not certainly no, i had it and i visited thailand and stayed for 2 months just recently ( a few days ago). No issues at thai immigration. i am guessing they are used to people using the '2 stripped at the corner' documents from around the world. The person just needs an evisa to enter thailand which again can be done at the thai evisa website
