How long does it take to get a visa for Thailand, my friend applied for a visa using a uk travel document on the 4th of May,and is still not out, Why is it taking long
Answer summary
The processing time for a Thai visa can vary significantly, especially when using a UK travel document. Typically, visas are not issued until they are close to the travel date to avoid wasting validity days. Delays can occur, particularly in cases involving additional documentation or checks. Some users reported waiting over 7 weeks for a decision, longer than the usual 2-week processing timeframe. It's important for applicants to confirm that payments were processed correctly and to keep in mind that communication with the embassy may primarily be through email.

Your friend is in the same situation as me, I applied for a tourist visa on May 12th, but I have not received a response yet, I am still waiting. normally it should be 2 weeks but they say there is a delay
The 6-months multi entry Tourist Visa is something special.
If you apply for a visa in your country using the e-visa system, don't be surprised if the day of your departure is getting closer and you haven't been issued a visa, yet.
The visa-validity starts on the date the visa gets issued. This is a different date than the expiry date of the stay permit you get stamped in when you enter.
The Thai embassies and consulates usually try to issue the visa as close as possible to your departure date so you don’t lose too many days of the 6-months visa validity
Make sure he has actually paid for it? The payment part isn't included in the application, they will see it at the far right hand side of the submitted application summary, it's an easy step to miss if you're not aware of it being there. If he has paid then he will have been emailed a receipt.
Alastair Phillip Patterson she paid already a day after application she got an email for additional docs and she submitted and she is still waiting 7 weeks later
I've heard that if it's a visa based around travel on a specific date, it won't be issued until just before the date so that the visa isn't "partially wasted"
UnderstandingSeal732 no, THIS IS WRONG! The visa-validity starts on the date the visa gets issued. This is a different date than the expiry date of the stay permit you get stamped in when you enter
I agree with you, but I also seem to remember the instructions in applying for visas also stated a maximum advance time to apply (eg. “No more than 2-months before travel for xyz visa”).
