Hey loves I need your advice.

I’m thinking of moving from my work permit to a DTV Visa. I’m gonna be spending time in Europe, but it’s not my residence. Can I still apply for a visa in a country that is not my residence? because I just called the Thai embassy in Holland and they seem to need a residence card to give the visa, but I did hear that it’s not necessary.

Anyone have experience with this ?

I’ll be in Netherlands, Italy, London, Germany

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is exploring the possibility of applying for a DTV Visa at a Thai embassy in Europe while not being a resident of that country. There are conflicting opinions on whether a residence card is required to apply. Many commenters suggest that most European embassies do require proof of residency, but some have successfully applied without it. The discussion highlights variations based on citizenship and specific country rules.

Does anyone know if non-residents and citizens of the USA can apply for DTV from there?

Most euro embassys do require some kind proof of residency, coukd be as much as actual residency card (Spain) or utility bill, you would have to search though the group posts for each of those

(Edit) I was able to easily apply from a different country than my permanent residency and know many others with the same story. Thought it was universal. Glad the group is able to correct this info and note that it is particular to your citizenship where you are able to apply.

It's Embassy-specific. In some you can in many others you can't. For example, when I applied for my DTV in South Korea, only Korean citizens or non-Koreans with residence cards could apply, but no just visitors or tourists. This was in August last year. Rules might have changed since (as you see, they keep changing the rules every time).

Most of the European based Thai embassies require you to be a resident. This is different than the embassies in Southeast Asia.
