TLDR : Answer Summary
Given the current situation, the individual cannot apply for a retirement visa (Non-O) as their pension of 1,700 EUR does not meet the minimum income requirement of 65,000 baht per month. However, since they are married to a Thai citizen, they can apply for a Non-O visa based on their marriage, with a lower monthly income requirement of 40,000 baht. They may also be eligible for a 90-day Non-O visa and can apply for yearly extensions with appropriate documentation from their embassy.

Lynnette *******
Isn't non-O based on retirement the 800,000 tb in the bank?
Wayne ********
@Lynnette ******
NonO based on married to a Thai is only 400k which doesn’t apply to him because he can get the income verification certificate from the German Embassy in Bangkok
Lynnette *******
@Wayne *******
yes I know the marriage visa is 400k. But he asked about retirement.
Greg ***********
@Lynnette ******
I already told him he should NOT go for the retirement visa, but for the family visa
Greg ***********
@Lynnette ******
he is from Germany, his embassy in Bangkok and the honorary consul in Pattaya do still issue income affidavits, and Immigration accepts these
Lynnette *******
@Greg **********
I'd have thought he'd have checked what income he'd need for using monthly method. If not it's 800k isn't it?
Greg ***********
@Lynnette ******
if he uses monthly income affidavit method, it is only 40,000 THB (1065.- Euro) per month for the Non-Imm-O family visa and the Extension. His monthly 1700.- Euro pension is far above the required amount
Jan ******************
If you’re married you can apply for a 90 days Non O visa based on marriage and yearly extensions of stay with a affidavit letter confirming income from your German (Austrian or Swiss) embassy in Bangkok.

Requirements for Non O visa based on retirement if you’re passed 50 years is minimum 1713 euro a month.

@Jan *****************
His amount of money in baht depends on the exchange rate. In his case it's way smarter to go for the based on marriage option.

@Max ************
as said in the first part

Your pension is to low for a retirement visa, it doesn't meet the requirement which is 65,000 baht per month.You are married with a Thai and can apply for a Non-O visa based on marriage. The monthly income requirement is just 40,000 baht per month. If your marriage is registered in Thailand it's dead easy.
Jamie **********
@Max ************
€1,700 is 64,500 Thai baht
Jo **********
@Max ************
your giving false information the requirement is 800,000 baht deposited in a Thai account. You can use the the income method but it’s not mandatory

sorry about your life. You’re responsible for it, douche bag.

@Ernesto *******
sorry about my life? Nothing about this has been said or involves my life

What good is having more money if all you’re doing is leaving stupid comments on facebook with everyone calling you an ass, truly you’re living your best life 😂
Michael ********
@Ernesto *******
Not when you already own a house, and probably vehicle as well
Ernesto ********
Kevin **********
@Michael *******
Depends where their house is
Michael ********
@Kevin *********
Why does it make a difference where the house is ?
Kevin **********
@Michael *******
By the beach is more expensive than rural life, problem is he has 2 Thai daughters he needs to keep entertained. Maybe back to the wife's village.
Michael ********
@Kevin *********
if he owns a property by the beach can rent it out and live somewhere cheaper, lots of extra income then. Kids cost a lot for westerners because they make it so. Got two nieces take out all the time. I used to live by beach with my son was great the sea is very cheap. I got Condo in Bangkok houses in samat sakorn and ratchaburi dont find its 40 % more expensive in Bangkok but i dont drink and go out fancy dining
Kevin **********
@Michael *******
For family of 4 or a single traveler on a tourist 60 day visa. For shelter, food, transportation, any medical if necessary, you can easily do it for 40% less.
Kevin **********
@Michael *******
Because rural Thailand village life is exponentially cheaper than city or touristy area life.We have a house in Baan Chok village Sisaket and Cha am. Both houses and automobiles are paid for. We probably live 40% cheaper in Baan Chok and maybe more

@Ernesto *******
You're not very smart are you? 65,000 baht per month is more than what 80% of the Thai population gets every month.
Ernesto ********
@Max ************
sounds like poverty to me. I’ve been to Thailand numerous times and that level of pension is low and not enough for family. Are they going to support you? If so then well played
Chris **********
@Ernesto *******
you no Ernesto you just told everybody in this comment string what kind of a person you are. You're a conceited a hole and take great pleasure and putting yourself above others. But all you've done is contributing nothing but your own inadequacy. You're nothing more than a self entitled conceited troll. You and the comments you make here are ones that had no value to this group and in my humble opinion you should be banned for these type of comments. All they do is contribute to people shying away from asking for advice and direction in a country that could possibly be new to them. Go back to the bar and have another drink
Conor ***********
it’s a pension buddy and I’m sure it’s going to go a lot further in Thailand then Europe genius
Ernesto ********
@Conor **********
reread his post. Maybe you’re fine with poverty level living. Good luck. Buddy
Conor ***********
@Ernesto *******
how do the nation of Thailand live buddy when they barely earn half it pal
