TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can apply for a re-entry visa in Thailand even if you do not know your specific departure date. Responses confirm that applications are accepted at any time and remain valid until your current permission to stay expires. It's advisable to estimate a departure date, as this is acceptable for the application.

Just for general information

as a note, DMK charged me the 200 baht service fee for not bringing my completed form and visa photo on Friday. The month before they didn't charge the 200 baht additional fee.

Everytime i do my yearly extention i also get a re-entry permit so i am always ready to travel.

Its true that the request form asks for a traveldate. I always keep that open. Never had any issue.

really so there is no take fixed sayer attached to the re-entry? I was always under impression that re entry permits were with a set date.

Re-entry permit has issued date valid until date (which is same to your current extension) only. No information about your travel.

The set date on the re-entry is the expiry date of your extension

Its a little confusing because the request form asks for a date. But you can ignore that. Its valid with the same duration of your visa.

You can get a multiple re-entry permit giving you a unlimited amout of re-entries. How could you know all dates in advance? No a date is not required. I do this many years. Sometimes multiple but lately in covid times a single is sufficient for me.

well if ur leaving one or two times a year a single entry is ok—if ur traveling abroad 3 or more all makes sense to get a multi entry.

Its not only the financial issue. For me the paece of mind knowning i can go anytime and not need to worry about getting my 2th or 3th re-entry in time made me just get the multiple. Only if i am sure its only 1 time i do a single. But nothing wrong to look at the financial side.

Yes, apply anytime and it's good until your visa expires.

YES you can get the re-entry permit without knowing what the actual departure date will be.

Just guess...any date accepted.

AND when Issued the date of expiration will be the same as your current ending date of your permission to stay stamp in your passport.
