How long can I delay the start date of a 6-month METV after applying for it at the Thai consulate?

ORIGINAL POSTERI'm looking at getting a 6 month METV from the Thai consulate in Brisbane, Australia. Just wondering how long can I push the start date of that visa out from when I apply for it and hypothetically get approved for it?

The 6-month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) begins its validity on the day it is issued and placed in your passport. Therefore, you cannot push the start date beyond the issuance date. Additionally, to extend your stay, you should leave Thailand before your visa expires to obtain another 60-day visa-free stay. Also with the METV leave before the last day on the visa to get another 60 day visa...
