I am currently studying Thai language in Chiang Mai with an education visa.

I have a United States passport.

Can I apply for a new education visa at the Thai Embassy in Cairo, Egypt?

Why you want to get a new Education Visa. You already have this kind of visa and as long as your course is going you can apply with help of the school for Extensions of Stay.

If you can enroll in a new course for another year of Thai language, your school needs to prepare all the documents again needed to apply at a Thai Consulate. I suggest you check with the school the Thai Consulate in Egypt to make sure you meet all the requirements.

ok so if I want to do a second year of Thai I need to leave the country correct?

I want to apply for the visa in Egypt since I will be there at the same time the August extension will expire

Yes, but as the Thai Language Course only takes max 1 year, your last Extension of Stay will be in August.

to my knowledge I only get 3 extensions per visa

My third extension will be in August

Are you saying I do not need to leave the country for a new visa one year after the original? I can keep getting extensions every 3 months in Chiang Mai (as long as I attend class)?
