Hello dear members, I don't live in my home country and I am curios if I can apply for ED visa where I live or have to go back to my country to do so? I tried to call the embassy but didn't pick up the phone and online I can't find any information on this topic. Also, I am interested in which visa is better than the other, multi entry visa vs. ED visa?

Your answers are appreciated! Thank you πŸ™πŸΌ

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether they can apply for an Education (ED) visa while residing in their current country or need to return to their home country. They also seek a comparison between the ED visa and a multiple entry visa. Commenters confirm that it is possible to apply for the visa from the current residence and suggest looking up the Thai embassy or consulate for detailed requirements.

Ed visa is for people who like to follow a course inside Thailand. There are different kinds of Multiple Entry Visa's, take a look at the Thai Embassy or Consulate in the country where you live and see if you can meet any of the requirements.

Well... depends on what you want to achieve. You can study even on a visa exempt.

okok. Same same but different

@Brigitta ******
Not the same at all, with the ED you don't have to leave the country when doing your 3 90 day extensions.

SETV gives you 60 days of stay and the ED visa 90 days of stay, you are correct, there both 3 months valid after placing it in your passport, so you have the same 3 months to enter Thailand to use the visa.

thanks. well if you can do a Thai language school with SETV then not a biggie. Valid for the same amount of time.

Robert Lagas I know, but The Hague and Brussels are not for away from each other. πŸ˜„ Tbh, the school warned me about the difficulties of getting an ED in Belgium.

As this is a strange story
@Danny ********
, but she is in the Netherlands and can apply in the Hague, no need to travel to Belgium.

Be warned, I had all the required paperwork with me and the Thai embassy in Belgium (Brussels) still didn't want to give me an ED visa. They only wanted to issue a SETV. Their reasoning, you can study 120 hours on a SETV also. Protested it, but to no avail. But I calculated this into my planning, and went to Kuala Lumpur. No issues there.

You can apply at the Thai Embassy in the Hague if you meet the requirements, which I posted earlier in the link provided.

Robert, you are really sweet explaining all these things. πŸ™πŸΌ Most of them I already know as I am researching about visas for a while. I still haven't got an answer for my question which is; do I have to fly to my home country to apply for ED visa or I can apply in NL too? :D

a Visa is a to be inside the country, there is no automatic medical insurance or any other goods involved. The difference is: The METV is valid for 6 month, you can during these 6 month enter and leave Thailand as much as you like and you will get 60 days of Stay at each entry. Depending on your study, the ED visa is a Single Entry Visa and gives you 90 days of stay, during these 90 days you follow classes and with help of your school you can apply for a Extension of Stay. The 1 year ED visa, is only if you enroll in University education.

yes I know the difference thank you. As I said in my original post, my main interest is if I can apply for ED visa in a foreign country. Other than that I heard that probably with ED visa I can automatically have medical insurance and other goods. My situation is that I have to decide if I want to study or travel. This is why I asked the "vs." :)
Robert *******
Difference is that the METV is for tourism purpose and the ED visa is to study in Thailand, but here you find the requirements:

I mean METV. And I don't get what you don't get about ability to apply for ED visa in a foreign country which is not my home country but where I am registered, legally working and living. πŸ€”
Robert *******
So what kind of Multiple Entry Visa are you looking for? We need much more details for this than I don't live in my home county and which visa is better than the other, multi entry visa vs. ED visa?
