Hi, can I apply for the covid extension in Bangkok if I'm staying in say Pattaya or Hua Hin? Is it true that I need a letter from my embassy to get the extension approval?

Thanks for any help I could get here.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual inquires about applying for a COVID extension in Bangkok while residing in Pattaya or Hua Hin. It is clarified that applications must be made at the location of residence, and a TM30 form is necessary for immigration processing. While the requirement for an embassy letter may exist, reports suggest it is not typically demanded in Bangkok. Additional context is provided regarding the need for rental agreements and potential travel restrictions.

Benjamin if you want to do it in Pataya or BK you need a TM30 The real problem is that you are in Hua Hin and you are not allowed to travel since you are coming from dark red zone

Maybe depends on what type of stamp you entered Thailand with and you are on now...

Your profile states that you live in Hua Hin.

Where are you now and do you have a TM 30 filed for that address?

What are you really wanting to do?

Why even ask about Bangkok?

No, you need a TM30 filed at the immigration office, and there has been reports that sometimes Bangkok asks to see a rental contract too.

IF they ask for it (and for Bangkok, the reports are that they don't), they will need EITHER a

- Letter from the embassy saying you can't return OR;

- A letter from your embassy saying they don't issue the letters saying you can't return OR;

- A screenshot from your embassy's website saying they don't issue the letters

(Note at all the "ORs")
