Thanks for all the advice a few months ago. We are now in Koh phangan and preparing to get another 30 days. We arrived 26th December and leave Thailand 22nd February... so I think we have one or two days when we can go to immigration in samui. If possible we would prefer to go earlier than that date 24th Jan I think so we know its done . Can they stamp the Visa in advance? So for example if we go to immigration 10th can we ask them for our 30 days to cover the dates we need... 24th Jan to 22 Feb? Hope that makes sense ๐Ÿ˜€

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of applying for a 30-day visa extension in advance while in Koh Phangan, Thailand. They want to know if they can request the extension dates to cover from January 24 to February 22, despite applying earlier. The responses clarify that the extension will be added to the current expiration date, regardless of when they visit immigration.

Thanks everyone! Someone told us that they can stamp it too early, hence me double checking!

Sometimes the immigration officer makes a mistake with the dates, always check the stamp immediately to make sure they calculated it correctly.

well that "someone" didn't know what they were talking about. :/ :P

Good Luck

It's an additional 30 days added onto your current allowed to stay date, not 30 days from the time you apply

and just to tell you once more it doesn't matter WHAT DAY you go for your 30 day extension they ADD the 30 days to the expiration date of the current stamp in your passport now..

There is no "we are screwed" going early. You can go a couple weeks early for the 30 day extension and it will still run out on the same date (30 days AFTER your current stamp runs out)..

Thankyou. Just to clarify incase I didn't explain properly... our initial 30 days runs out 24th Jan and then 29 days from then until we leave on 22nd Feb. Checking in case they just stamp from the day you go to immigration and we will be screwed if we go much earlier as only one day to spare ๐Ÿ˜€

It doesn't matter WHEN you go to apply for it, you don't get any more days waiting until this stamp almost expires.. :P

Yes...

umm, the way a 30 day extension works is they ADD it to your current expiration date.
