I arrive back in Thailand on a Sunday, do I have to report my address in person, or can I do it online? It’s an 80 km drive one way to the immigration office on Monday. I have a "blue book" and a pink ID card, and I live in my wife's house; I have an O-visa but have been away for six months, and I have a re-entry permit.
Answer summary
The question addresses whether the user must report their address in person at the immigration office after returning to Thailand on a Sunday with an O-visa, or if this can be done online. Comments suggest that the user's wife can handle the TM30 address registration, potentially online, provided she has registered the house previously. It's noted that she needs to report the user's presence within 24 hours, typically in person for the first time. There is confusion regarding the type of household registration (blue book vs. yellow book) and its implications for address reporting.

did you get a re-entry permit before leaving

I thought you could only leave Thailand for 90 days or less on a NON-O VISA's even with a re-entry permit. So you can leave for more than 90 days and return and keep your NON O VISA and not have to reapply for it? Thanks

Foreigners would Need to have their name in a Blue Thai Household Book / Blue Tabien Baan ( ทร.14 ) and a Pink Non–Thai Citizen ID Card if they are a Thai Permanent Resident (Thai PR) ถิ่นที่อยู่ with a Thai PR Book ใบสำคัญถิ่นที่อยู่

otherwise, without Thai PR Book ใบสำคัญถิ่นที่อยู่ all Foreigners can only have their name in a Yellow Tabien Baan ( ทร.13 )

Can we see a copy of this blue Tabien Baan with a foreigner's name in it?

If YOU yourself have a blue blook with your name in it, it is kind of tricky.

Technically the Landlord housing a foreigner has to do the reporting.

If you do it yourself, as in the landlord does not want to do it, you need:

- A copy of the first 2 pages of the house book - of the landlord. Signed by him.

- A copy of the ID card of the landlord. Signed by him.

- The filled out TM30 paper, signed by him (you can download that)

- A list of foreigners he wants to notify about, obviously it is only one person, which is you. (you download that, too).

Now, as you say you have your own blue book - that confuses the situation a bit.

I would assume, you need a copy of your own blue book, with YOUR signature.

However: I have no clue - INTERESTING QUESTION!

I suggest to call immigration, I mean your wife, or just go in time together, and have all your ID cards and blue books, and prepare the copies already.

Keep us informed, it is an interesting situation!

Your wife needs to report your presence within 24 hours. Wife needs to go with you to immigration with a few copies of house book and her ID, originals too. They will register the home, do your 1st TM30, and set her up to do future TM30's online. I had them set it up on my email for login and I do the TM30 online each time I arrive home.

Steve Carter His wife does not need to be present. He only needs the relevant papers filled and signed and signed copies (1x or 2x?) of her ID card.

But it is much simpler if he goes with his wife the first time, and they ask already if they can use LINE in future and/or how to set up the online registration (because it is tricky).

Probably, when the wife rang them they asked her to come in so I assumed it was required. One of the officers actually sat with us at a PC in their office and set up the login etc on the immigration web page. No complaints.

Robin Hind No i have Usufructs a couple actually but no blue book, i am on a yellow book but not for any of the properties that i have usufruct on
Phil ********

Robin Hind Holding a Usufruct does not allow your name to be put in to a blue Tabien Baan.

They only way that a foreigner can have a 'blue book' is if they have PR and if you have that, surely that negates your question.
Richard ********
Richard ********
That’s incorrect. I have a blue book for a house that is mine, the wife retains the land
Phil ********
Phil ********
Richard Hornby Are you saying that the Tabien for the house only, not the land, is blue? I thought they were yellow? I HOLD a blue Tabien Baan for my house but my name isn't in it. To the best of my knowledge, the only foreigners who's name is registered in a blue Tabien Baan are those with PR or Citizenship.
Greg ***********
Greg ***********
Richard Hornby but your name is not in the blue book. The blue book does NOT make you owner of a house. Even with your name in the blue book, it is not an ownership title. Only the usufruct on the back side of the chanote makes you elegible to live in the house until you pass away, and the house still does not "belong" to you at any point of your life
Greg ***********
Greg ***********
well, this legal situation very rarely happens. In most cases foreigners avoid trouble and do not insist on their usufruct. Because it makes them victims of an asassination
Greg ***********
Greg ***********
Phil Wilson no, a foreigner cannot legally own the house. He can set up a usufruct that makes him elegible to use the house for the rest of his life, and he can sell or trade this usufruct, but it actually never is a real ownership. If your relationship goes down sh.t creek, the owner of the land surrounding the house can refuse your right of way. You would not be able to cross over the land to be able to reach your house
Phil ********
Phil ********
Greg Alexander Greg, a foreigner can actually own a house in Thailand - they just can't own the land. As far as I know, the Tabien for the house only is yellow.

Greg ***********
Angelo Schneider can't you read?? He wrote: "I have a blue book for a house that is mine, the wife retains the land" . . . so I told him what he really owns

Greg Alexander He did nto mention anything of that. Stupid answer.

She can register herself and the house for TM30 then file the TM30 online when you arrive. No need to visit the office. If not, you have 24 hours to notify them, so the next day will do.
