Asking for a friend please.
American on extended TR visa which is going to expire April 10. Can he go for a covid extention to buy him sometime and if so can he apply for a Non-O retirement or Non-B if he can get a job after that? Thank you for your help.
TLDR : Answer Summary
An American on an extended TR visa expiring April 10 can apply for a COVID extension, but it must be done before March 30. Once granted, the COVID extension starts from the application date, not the current expiration date. Additionally, he can later apply for a Non-O retirement visa or a Non-B visa if he meets the eligibility requirements and finds a job.
