Can a UK citizen enter Thailand with a 3-month ticket and get a 30-day visa on arrival without a visa in the passport?
Quick question....from uk..can a person with a 3 month ticket..go without a visa..get 30 day on arrival..30 day married to a thai then a 30 day border run.....

You're going to have far more problem with your air carrier checking in for your flight on a one way ticket with no visa in your passport than you will once you get here.
Unless of course you have a history of living here on back to back visa exempt entries or tourist visa entries, when you could be questioned by passport control stamping in.

OPThe ticket would show a return date of 3 months....so could you fly with no visa in your passport....

If its a return ticket the airline won't question the lack of visa. If asked just say you are planning to tour SE Asia & are using Thailand as a start/end point

You can get 30 day Visa Exempt Entry and than 60 days Extension of Stay based on visiting your Thai family.
