TLDR : Answer Summary
Immigration cannot cancel a marriage visa solely upon the request of a Thai wife; a divorce is necessary for a marriage extension to be canceled, and the individual must handle this process. If a divorce occurs and one remains in the country past that point, they would be considered overstaying their visa.
From what I have seen immigration always wants to see your Thai wife when you apply for the one-year extension - so if you're having problems with your wife then you are probably okay visa-wise until the renewal becomes due.
No. A divorce is needed for a marriage extension to be cancelled. Even then you’d have to do it yourself. They could report you if you were in country after a divorce (you’d be on overstay on an extension).
