Hi everyone,

I’m a Slovenian citizen and I’m planning to enter Thailand on September 21, 2026 without a visa.

Last year, I stayed in Thailand from February 28 until September 13 (around 6.5 months in total). During that stay, I did three land border runs. I never overstayed, and I always left Thailand within the permitted period.

Since September 13 last year, I have been outside Thailand and I have not entered Thailand at all this year.

I’m now planning to return to Thailand on September 21, 2026. I will have a confirmed flight from Thailand to the Philippines about one month later, so I will have proof of onward travel.

My question is: How likely is it that I could be refused entry because of my long stay in Thailand last year and the three border runs?

I would be entering for tourism, with an onward flight to the Philippines, accommodation booked, and sufficient funds.

Has anyone had a similar situation recently?
Answer summary
A Slovenian citizen plans to enter Thailand on September 21, 2026, without a visa, after a prior stay of 6.5 months, during which he made three land border runs but never overstayed. He questions the likelihood of being refused entry due to his past long stay and border runs. The community responses suggest that he is likely to be fine, especially since he hasn't been in Thailand for the past year, has an onward flight, accommodation booked, and sufficient funds. Some commenters advise obtaining a tourist visa for added safety, while others discuss the strictness of Thai immigration policies.

Based on what you say should be no problem.

You need to visit Tarot card reader. But I think 75% success if you have real outbound ticket, hotel booking and cash money to show.

So if a genuine tourist, get the right visa to start with, doing border runs is exactify why authorities are tightening on people, 8 months a tourist.

Try it out, 30 day exempt (at airport) based on your story.

Abey Abey That's a bit harsh, the OP hasn't been in Thailand for a year. Why should he be banned for life?

Maybe you should be banned from opening your mouth. How would you like that?

Steve Greir But he is right about it not really being tourist activity.

Ralph Tyson You do know that tourists take holidays every year!

Steve Greir 7 month holidays?

Steve Greir but not holidays of 6.5 months...

He even is tax resident in 2025 this way 😉

Ralph Tyson What? He hasn't been in Thailand for a year.

Ralph Tyson Fair enough, but banned for life is a bit harsh for spending 6 months in Thailand on visa exemptions!

Steve Greir And spent nearly 7 months there the previous year. Perhaps he went to Vietnam instead.

you'll be fine. You are legitimately there for tourism with an onward flight. I've done about 30 border runs in days gone by.

Tourists don't stay seven months and do border runs. Your kind is the reason Thailand changed immigration laws. Hopefully they would ban you for life entering Thailand.

Abey Abey Didn't you want to scam the type O visa just to get a bank account?

Robert Moldashel No, l asked if l can apply for a bank account with Non-O 90 days retirement visa and the answer is yes, that’s not scamming it’s doing things the right way.

Abey Abey, even Thailand should not ban ppl for following the rules. If Thailand has a problem with what ppl can do complying with the rules, they should change the rules. It is really amazing that Thailand for the past 20 years has struggled with making the visa exemption system into what they wish for. If they pay me 1 M THB, I will tell them a bullet proof system - if they cannot figure it out themselves... :-)

Since you've been gone for a year, you're probably okay. I would still get a tourist visa if possible.

You already have the 3 proofs covered, so it would be a bit difficult for them to deny entry to you, though not impossible.

Tadeja Vatovec you should be fine, depending on how you physically look. Thailand does not like poor people.
