Help - anxious about entry in May 2026, am I overthinking?

Hello everyone,

I’m a 19-year-old Italian passport holder and I’m feeling a bit anxious about my upcoming trip to Thailand. I tend to overthink things, so I’d really appreciate some honest opinions.

My intended arrival is 11 May 2026, planning to stay 55 days, travelling around different areas of Thailand that I genuinely want to explore.

Here is my previous travel history (all under Visa Exemption scheme):

• December 2024 – 22 days (11 of those were in January 2025)

• April 2025 – 13 days

• June 2025 – 56 days

After the 56-day stay, I went to Penang, Malaysia for about 9 days, then returned to Thailand for another 19 days.

I exited Thailand on 15 September 2025 and came back to home country as usual.

The Malaysia trip was the only time in my life I’ve done anything remotely similar to a “border run”, it wasn’t something I regularly do, just part of my travel plans at the time.

If I return on 11 May 2026, it will have been 7 months and 26 days outside Thailand since my last exit.

I’ve never overstayed, never worked illegally, and I always have onward tickets and accommodation. I’m just a genuine traveller who enjoys the country a lot… but reading Reddit and Facebook groups about people being denied entry has made me a bit anxious.

Based on this history, should I realistically be worried about re-entering in May 2026?

Thank you in advance, I really appreciate any insight.
Answer summary
A 19-year-old Italian traveler expresses anxiety about re-entering Thailand under the visa exemption scheme after a lengthy stay outside the country. Having not overstayed in previous visits, they seek reassurance regarding potential issues at immigration. Community responses overwhelmingly support the traveler, emphasizing their legitimate tourist status and suggesting measures like securing onward tickets and accommodation to alleviate concerns.

Stay off social media and read and comprehend real news. If you are so afraid of nothing perhaps relax at home with therapy.

As long as you have a plan, you have your air ticket, you have booking hotel, you have enough money or cash THB20,000 to proof then you are ok.

giorni nell'ultimo anno.

If you are worried, apply for a tourist visa instead of coming every time on visa exemption.

From the immigration officers point of view….15th September 2025 to 11th May 2026 that’s a long time to be away from Thailand for someone who’s “trying to live”’in Thailand on visa exempt

In other words you DON’T fit the profile of someone trying to live here.

Nothing to worry about your a tourist based on your travel patterns

Just stop reading these Thai visa forums it’s ridiculed with negativity

Realistically, worry is a negative emotion with no positive outcome. Talk to Thai Visa Centre, as they can facilitate your entry. Enjoy!

You overthink, if the visa exemption not go back to 30 days before you come its no problem. If you want to feel more relax, you can apply for a turist visa, 60 days.

I don't understand, what is the problem. You will enter to Thailand for the first time in 2026.

Get a return flight.

That's it.

Just book one night in BKK and enjoy your travel

Based on past cases, it shouldn't be a problem. That said, things are changing quickly right now, and there has been an increase in denials.

Its a very small gamble, as long as you got that return flight u r probably ok, if not this will reduce your odds. My advice is stop loving Thailand so much and broaden your horizons 😜🤣

Talk about creating a problem out of nothing. Stop reading social media posts and enjoy being a tourist in Thailand. By the way ...Thailand loves tourists, which is what you are

What is making you anxious? You have only spent 3 months total. The max is 6. You haven’t entered this year yet. The max is two. Worry about something else this is a waste of stress lol.
