ORIGINAL POSTER
I have been in Thailand since 13 th of July . First I got a stay of 60 days visa free exemption and I extended it for another month and on 10 of October I have to leave Thailand. Now I am planning to visit Hanoi for one week starting on October 4th flying from Bangkok. Will I get another 60 days when I come back to Thailand?

I am asking this because some people say it is not possible because the sum of your stays in Thailand cannot be more than 90 days within 6 months?

I would be happy if someone can give me some precise information from first hand who has experienced this.

Thank you in advance 🙏🙏😊😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks confirmation on whether they will receive another 60-day visa exemption upon returning to Thailand after a week in Hanoi, mentioning conflicting advice regarding Thailand's immigration rules and a limit of 90 days within 6 months. Comments indicate variability based on the immigration officer's discretion rather than strict rules, suggesting the user may be allowed back but should prepare necessary documentation (onward ticket, proof of income, and accommodation), as experiences can vary.

Yes you will indeed but just to be safe I would book a cheap flight to singapore to show them when you arrive because now when you come to Thailand you have to do an electronic arrival card and if they see you’re just flying in and out there’s a chance they won’t accept you. Just book the cheapest flight you can find within the first month of you arriving back in.

No get a visa. They are denying people re-entry

@Darre *****
they may say apply for the rite visa METV you'll have to leave and apply outside Thailand and pay $250 takes 10 days ish then you are not wasting there time every month or so.

Unfortunately nothing is cut and dried when it comes to Thai immigration

It comes down to the immigration officer on the day ,

And if they had a argument with their wife that morning

Just like the UK, US and Australia then 😂

Just make sure that you have the three evidences.

1. Onward ticket.

2. Proof of income

3. Evidence of accommodation.

I'm going to have a similar problem to you next year ... but my next destination is Kazakhstan OR Georgia

2. It's 20k Baht or equivalent in CASH only
Steve *******
Yes you can. Whoever told you about that rule is wrong.

@Steve ******
yes, the one who told him about that rule is wrong... but so are you (or you could be). There is no guarantee that anyone will be allowed to enter on visa exemption a second time, not long after the first stay. Most likely, yes - 100% sure, no! It's clearly become harder lately and there's been several reports about people getting denied. In the end it is up to the immigration officer. Previous travel history, that we know nothing about, matters too.
Steve ****
Yes.

No

Maybe.

All depends on the IO

Hoping your wrong, pretty sure you are, I stayed in 2024 for about 7 months , 4 visits

things have changed since 2024, they are trying to control their borders much more

You should be fine if this is only your second time in Thailand this year.

But ultimately it depends on the immigration officer you get and their mood that day.

Most times you will be fine.

It seems strange to ask the same question in a different forum and expect a different answer. The answer is the same. It will depend on the immigration officer you will stand in front of on the day

There is no hard and fast rule about how many days you’re allowed in Thailand per year on Visa exemption entries nor how many per year you can make.

Entry is determined by the immigration officer you hand your passport to. If they deem your entry history seems suspicious (trying to live here or work here) on free entry stamps then they will either tell you that on your next entry you’ll need an actual visa or just flat out deny entry.

No one here can say what will happen to you. It’s up to that individual to decide.

you are correct TDAC is keeping better records now. My friend who has been doing border runs and even flights just yesterday was turned away after doing it this year twice.. so they are definitely cracking down on it.

@Stuart ********
this is 100 percent correct.

When I returned from a visit to another country the Immigration Officer questioned me, they asked how much time I wanted on the extension and warned me that I could be denied use of a Visa Exemption in the future.

@Stuart ********
ninety days out of 180 days you’re allowed….might have an issue….might not
Graham ******
@Robert *******
there is no numerical rule
Stuart *********
@Robert *******
There is no law to support that rule. It’s often spouted by immigration officers but it doesn’t exist.

Perhaps telling them that won’t work in your favour but it doesn’t.
Graham ******
@Robert *******
there is no numerical rule
