Hi, does someone have experience with extension of the 60 day TR Visa? I heard that it can be extended by 30 days once but do you need to show that you have a certain amount of money on your bank account to approve the extension?

Thanks for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, a 60-day Tourist Visa (TR) in Thailand can be extended by an additional 30 days. To approve the extension, there is no requirement to show a specific amount of money in your bank account. The main requirements are to pay a fee of 1900 THB and to provide proof of where you are staying.

No you need only 1900 thb as the fee and show where you live that's all.

Can you extend again after the full 90 days?

if you know you are going to stay longer than 90 days maybe the STV is ihe best option.

@Andy *******
Not every country is eligble for STV and TR is much more easier to get.

understand that, but if you are planning to be here in Thailand for longer than 90 days should choose a visa that matches your requirements.

hi, which type of visa would be suitable if i want to stay longer then 90 days?

the STV is not available in all countries. Check at your local Embassy or Consulate.

if you are looking to holiday for up to 270 days then the new Special Tourist Visa (STV) is probably the best option.

If you want to stay longer there are a range of visas available. The requirements of these visas are dependent on age (above 50), dependents, money (either as a fee or an investment), education or work.

As a very wise man says in Thailand there is always an option.

at present, those of us in Thailand can extend for 60 days at a time, due to Covid. I have been here since March, on a 30 day arrival stamp. Firstly covered by the visa exemption and then by Covid extensions. At the end of the day, Thailand has now realised it wants to keep foreigners here, firstly to cash in on foreigner money because lack of tourists for their tourist industry and secondly, they charge you 1900 baht for every extension. Chiang Mai embassy, who I am dealing with, seem to ask no questions and take your money and stamp fast.

i thought amnesty means the same as extension??

Amnesty meant we didn’t need any visa at all. Was free of charge for quite a few months from April-September (amnesty). Then they realised they wanted to make some money out of us lol

No need to show money in the bank for extension.
