Are police clearances now required every 3 months for Ed visa extensions in Thailand?

Hi guys I’m a university student and on an Ed visa, also due for a visa extension at the end of next month. My university has told me that now people from countries who require police clearances for extensions have to do police clearance every 3 months and they are not valid for 1yr anymore. Anyone else heard of this? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
A university student on an ED visa reported that their institution informed them about a new requirement for police clearances for visa extensions, stating that individuals from specific countries now need to obtain a new clearance every three months instead of annually. Other users in the comments confirmed this change and listed the affected countries. There was also discussion about the practicality of obtaining the clearance and whether appointments are necessary.

Are appointments for police clearance strictly by booking only or do they accept walk ins?

As long as you don't commit a crime in Thailand, what's the problem? It's only 100 baht

As you have been on an Ed visa/extension since 2019, I would just go with the flow and get a new clearance.

I have a police clearance still from October 2024. My question was about the 3 month validity rule and if anyone else has experienced this?
