Are non-B work permit holders prohibited from land crossings in Thailand?

Rumor on Koh Tao: “Latest from Victoria Point.. non-b work permit holders are no longer allowed to do land crossings, they have to leave and re-enter via an airport.”

Any truth to this, and is this ALL borders? Considering I can’t find a straight flight from Surrathani into Malaysia, this forces me through BKK.

(I’ve already booked transportation to cross into Malaysia by van 4 days from now.)

TLDR : Answer Summary
There are rumors on Koh Tao suggesting that non-B work permit holders can no longer use land borders to exit Thailand and must instead leave via airports. The poster is seeking confirmation about the validity of this rumor and whether it applies to all borders, especially given the lack of direct flights from Surat Thani to Malaysia. Responses include suggestions for alternative travel routes and commentary on recent experiences crossing borders.

This is the plan for exit. It’s reentry that’s the concern.

I came back through Andaman Club immigration a few weeks ago and it was fine. Haven't heard anything on Koh Phangan about this either...
