Hi. We have spent six months in Thailand already and we have just come to Kuala Lumpur to pick up our visa for the education course that we have enrolled in on Koh Phangan.
We’ve just been informed at the Thai embassy here that our application has been denied. We were given a post-it note saying this was because we have been in Thailand for six months already but there is no information anywhere that says you can’t do an ed visa after this time and our language school didn’t see it as a problem either.
It also mentioned we needed to show proof of a source of income but we showed copies of our bank statements as part of the application process and these show ample funds as well as a monthly income from the rent of a property at home.
The office here refused to discuss it any further just saying it was not their decision and the language school have said they don’t know how this is possible but there’s nothing they can do (other than offer us a refund)
We are booked to fly back to Samui tomorrow morning but I am not even confident they will allow us back in to the country again.
We’ve been to Thailand every year for the last fifteen years and have heard many tales of problems at borders etc. but we’ve never been here for this long before and really don’t know what to expect or what to do.
Anyone with any experience or suggestions?
Thank you....
