Guys, I have chosen the wrong type of Visa while applying for the CoE. They approved my certificate though. Do you think I will have a problem at the customs?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about having selected the wrong type of visa while applying for a Certificate of Entry (CoE) but has received approvals for the certificate. Community members suggest that as long as the user has COVID-19 insurance for the duration of their stay, they should not encounter problems at customs, regardless of the visa type chosen.

you will be just fine

You aren't gonna have any problem
@Nebojsa *******
at all, as long as you're insured for covid for the 60 days you'll get stamped in for, it won't matter what you picked when you got the COE.

I'll be in the same boat when I finally get back. A tourist to type o visa
Tod *********
It doesn't show the visa type on the COE
Trevor ******
wrong they do not check this lol

Strange they haven't checked the copy of the visa carefully, or maybe it doesn't matter to them that you misclicked as soon as they got the right insurance etc.

@Tod ********
It doesn’t, but they can easily check the CoE number and see which type it is.

Why don't you give a bit more info if you want an informed answer?

So basically, I chose the STV instead of normal tourist visa while applying for the certificate of entry. I am arriving from Serbia on a normal single entry tourist visa. I have the certificate and there is no information about the type of visa on it, but I worry they may cause a problem at the customs while checking it.

@Nebojsa *******
. If you've already got the TR visa, you've done the right thing, the STV is a crap alternative. The COE doesn't indicate visa type. You'll get stamped in for 60 days, with an option to extend for a further 30.

hi bobby, why do you not recommend stv? I was planning to make use of it for a longer stay. I know it’s being withdrawn later, but London embassy says I can still get 90days + one 90day extension when in Thailand before they phase it out. Any advice appreciated

@Lex ****
. I don't like it because it's too rigid. As the last extension is September 29, it's only good now up to December 28. If you plan to come now, and definitely leave before Dec 28, it's fine. Don't believe any stories that agents can fix it up in Thailand. Agents will not touch it

thanks Bobby that’s great info. It’ll work for me luckily as this trip will actually just be 5.5 months 🙏

@Lex ****
The STV is being phased out as of Sept AND

if you enter the country after July 3rd, you can't get ANY extension on an STV, just the 90 day entry stamp :/

It also can't be used to switch to another type of visa inside the country.

All in all it's a TERRIBLE visa choice. Unless you're gonna come here, spend 9 months and then go back to where they come from, then it's okay.

Cheers Tod, good advice. I’m one of the few who it should work well for then. Into Thailand start of July, do one extension taking me through to December when I will return to UK anyway for Xmas.

I’ve heard it cannot be changed for any other visa so if you are planning on staying longer than that you can kiss it goodbye 👍

@Nebojsa *******
should be ok as long as you have a visa for entry, I did the same thing and just got it sorted via one of the many visa companies here once I arrived, don't panic and enjoy Thailand.
