Hello all, my question is, if my bank balance goes below 800K will the bank inform immigration? I plan on replenishing the account prior to my next extension.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation addresses the requirement for maintaining a bank balance of 800,000 baht for visa extensions in Thailand. It clarifies that if the balance drops below this amount, immigration is not likely to be notified by the bank, but one must ensure that the required amount remains in the account for a specified seasoning period prior to applying for the visa extension. The comments discuss various nuances regarding the 60-day or 3-month seasoning requirements for different visa types, including marriage extensions.

Yeah, 3 months is correct

Does the 800,000 baht need to be in only one bank or can the total be from two or three banks combined if the other rules are met?
Han ********
Can, but you need then from each bank a letter, B 200.- for example each and all the books copies!

On a similar theme for a yearly marriage extension ( not the first ) , is the official rule that 400,000 baht has to be there for 2 or 3 months. My office wants 3.

The current police order in effect that controls extensions of stays in thailand

The clause for marriage is 2.18 and it's #6 that says about the 2 month seasoning for marriage extensions when a foreign guy is married to a thai woman.

Mikkel Kruse the extension of stay based on being over 50 (retirement) is the one that is 60 days the first time and 3 months every time after that. The marriage extension is 2 months every time

If reference is needed

Where is that text taken from?

Was about to ask the same.. I am making my second one year extension based on marriage in october. I read somewhere that it was 2 months first time and then 3 months subsequent. So I made mine ready already in june.. But better too early than too late I guess ;) Nice to know for next time though!

It is 2 months for EVERY year no matter if it's the first one or the fortieth one :O

I'd take in the police order in thai and show them that it's only 2 months. They aren't gonna like it but they aren't gonna argue with it either.

Yes, these 3 months the balance should not go below the 8K or Immig. will notice that in the Bank book copy you have to provide also.

Exactly what happens

You also need to present an updated bank book. So make sure the minimum of 800.000 Thb was on the account 60 days or 3 months (depending on first or subsequent application) before the date you apply.

Thanks for the info.

No. Immigration expect you to use the money in your account for living expenses. But do not forget that, if you want to renew your visa you will need your account to show 800,000 thb for the 2 months prior to your renewal date.

@David *******
well the rules aren't that difficult. It's pretty straightforward. We're guests (paying guests) and just need to abide by a few rules. I manage fine with an METV.

3 months for renewal.

I bow to your superior knowledge.

The actual rule states that for the FIRST yearly extension you need to have the 800K baht "seasoned" in the bank account for 60 days (not two months) before you apply for the extesion and for every subsequent yearly extension after that you need to have the money seasoned in the account for 3 months (which is NOT necessarily 90 days)

No. They won’t.
