Got rejected today from hanoi

I was rejected in Hanoi.

I work as a video content creator.

I applied on the evening of May 28, and about 3 working days later, I received a document supplementation request. They only asked for one thing: a 3-month bank statement.

I then submitted a 4-month bank certificate showing a balance of 700,000 baht:

* 31 May: 21,500.00 USD

* 30 April: 21,300.00 USD

* 31 March: 21,400.00 USD

* 28 February: 21,600.00 USD

What I don’t understand is this:

If my other documents were insufficient or inappropriate, I could accept a straightforward rejection without a request for additional documents.

But in this case, they only requested one specific document.

I submitted exactly what they asked for, yet I was still rejected without any reason given.

In red they requesting a detailed bank balance. You submitted a balance/certificate. They need to see if the amounts maybe went below on a specific day and then you topped up again. That will not qualify you if it has. They want to see if that amount was constantly maintained throughout!

I usually include the transaction history since that is part of the statement. I also include an official certificate of bank balance and if the bank won't notorize it or put a seal on it I'll go somewhere else to get it stamped or apostled so everything looks and is official

Why did you provide bank certificates when they requested detailed statements? It looks like you are trying to use fixed deposit accounts when they actually wanted to see your basic day to day account so they can look at income and outgoings ie movement in statements. That will be why you were rejected

GentleTulip3294 I think this was the problem. What you provided was probably fine to meet the 500,000B requirement. When they ask for three months though they want to see your income, so they want to see an account that shows whatever work you are doing actually produces income, and see that income going into the bank. It's a different ask than the 500k requirement.

That they said "detailed" supports this, those documents are not detailed, they don't show any transactions.

Same as a Certificate of Deposit issued by banks... CD's are 🚫 NOT liquid cash with out a penalty.

Please read the post from the beginning. The applicant initially submitted bank transaction statements. Then, as additional supporting documents, they were requested to provide 3 months of bank statements, so they submitted four months of bank balance certificates.

it’s a fixed deposit account, means he can’t take the money out for usually a year. That isn’t the type of account they want to see. The money isn’t available

The issue is likely related to the type of bank account that you provided. I saw in one of your comments that it was a "fixed account" rather than a checking or savings account.

The visa requires funds to be in a checking or savings account that has easy access to funds withdrawal.

Stock accounts, 401k, retiremebt accounts, CD, investment accounts, or other accounts such as "fixed accounts" are not allowed no matter how much is in that account.

Lets be real, it isn’t luck. He submitted a fixed savings account, which means the money isn’t accessible for 1,2 or 5 years. That isn’t the type of account they want to see. They want to see you have access to money. When he submitted a bank certificate, they asked for bank statements for the last 3 months. Because he doesn’t have bank statements due to the type of account, he submitted four bank certificates, which is not even what they asked for. Then his digital nomad job is content creator, which means he plans to take videos in Thailand. That isn’t a remote job. He doesn’t meet the requirements on multiple fronts

Only thing I can think of: they asked for a „detailed“ bank statement. Whatever that is, maybe they wanted to see all individual transactions. Did you supply that? Not that it should be any of their business. Anyhow, many embassies are just doing whatever they heck they want. Everything is inconsistent and nobody higher up the food chain seems to care to get things in order and harmonized.

You mentioned you tried and failed before on your home country, too? So, I am wondering about your travel and visa history with Thailand.

When in doubt, go for a soft power DTV with a money back agency, instead. I don’t like to suggest the use of agencies, but with embassies going that crazy, it may make economical sense at this point.

in general, it’s rare to provide reason but you can try again at other city, depend on officer how to review your case.

if u have a certificate bank statement and all of that why don’t go back to ur origin country and apply in ur home town embassy !

at least in ur home town ur embassy know how deal with citizens of ur country better than the Vietnam embassy !

i did it in home town and got it super smoothly.

if u are done with them just pay an agency to do it for u.

search online for a trusted agency that can do it for u.

i did it with no agency but if i’m in ur situation i might look for a trusted one.

(but as i said the problem is 90% that they didn’t understand ur bank statement )

anyways since u applying from Vietnam i believe u should add a paper in the bank statement pdf explaining how ur bank works and stating that its ur bank from a country and how it works so the embassy can understand ur statement.

GentleTulip3294 ok, so you didn’t supply the correct bank documents. What probably happened is a low level staff member does a review to see if all core documents were there. He/she saw that what you supplied for bank statements was not right and requested additional bank documents. Once received, your application moved on to a more senior person who reviewed the entire application and rejected you, hence why they asked for the documents and still got rejected
