Hello. I’m a U.S. citizen in Thailand trying to get my dtv visa. I was planning on going to Cambodia for this. I need the 3 months 500k baht bank statements. Do they ask for proof of income, I am an investor/trader (stocks and crypto). Any advice would be appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
A U.S. citizen in Thailand is seeking advice on obtaining a DTV visa, specifically about the requirement for 500,000 baht bank statements and whether proof of income is necessary, given their status as an investor/trader in stocks and crypto. Comments suggest that the need for proof of income varies by application route, with some stating it may not be needed, while others recommend having documentation to show potential earnings. Additionally, inquiries about the operational status of the Thai embassy in Cambodia and challenges with visa runs are noted.

I don't think it's possible to do a visa run from Cambodia too much problem with Thailand and I have been told you cannot open a bank account with the dtv visa call Brian ramston lawyers for expats Thailand explain your situation and he will be able to help you look him up on Facebook don't listen to anyone but a lawyer

Crypto is a commodity, no intrinsic value or earnings. Just speculation.

Depends on route. If you are applying as freelancer/business owner you need to put together a portfolio of where and how you make money

Did you check if the Thai embassy in Cambodia is actually operating??

Will need to show you are making regular income

Just got mine. Took all of 48 hours. They did not ask for income but you will probably need some proof that somebody is going to pay you or you can make money so you don’t end up being one of those guys sitting on the steps of royal garden drinking beer out of a paper bag

Hi Dave! Can I ask where you applied for your DTV?

Was it your home country? Or nearby SEA country?

If SEA, where? I’ve heard different locations take much longer than others and I’m trying to decide where I’d like to go. Thanks!

a lot of success stories from Vietnam. Allow a minimum of 5 business days for processing.

I live in San Diego so I used the link to the Los Angeles Consulate. It was a breeze although I am not a digital creator. Previously I owned a company that imported from China and sold on Amazon. Im reopening the business and need to find new suppliers in a country my president doesn't hate. I sent in an old invoice from my supplier and a jpg of an amazon listing. I actually used statements from my retirement accounts for the money in the bank. I believe they want to approve these visas so give them what a reason to. I figure there are 3 basic things they are looking for. Can you earn money while you are living in Thailand. They dont want more bums Do everything you can to convince them it's possible. Show that you have the 500k baht so they know you will survive without becoming a bum. I also show strong ties to San Diego so they would know Im coming back the US and won't be a bum in thailand. Good Luck.

I think it depends what route, digital nomad or soft power, you use. If you use the remote worker one, they might ask to see proof of your previous payslips, not because there is minium income requirement, but to verify you're indeed a remote worker.
