Is it now common for visa applicants to be interviewed at the Thai embassy in Vientiane?

Yesterday at the Thai embassy in Vientiane, a fair few foreigners were pulled aside for interviews with an official - was somewhat odd, and roughly 50% of the applicants who were questioned got denied (I was lucky, just got questioned re: bank statement, what I’m doing in Thailand, etc). Is this the usual now at Vientiane? Have been going there often for the past 5 years, and this has never happened to me.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent experiences at the Thai embassy in Vientiane indicate a significant change in the visa application process where approximately 50% of applicants pulled aside for interviews were denied. This is unusual compared to previous visits over the last five years. The interviews targeted various types of visa applicants including Tourist, Ed, and Non-O B visas, with denials primarily due to missing documentation.

you answered the question correct. But I will do it again, you went often in the last 5 year, you could try to get a Visa that fits the purpose of your stay, saves your travels and visits and even interviews.

To clarify, the people that were outright denied didn’t provide some documentation that was required for their visa, and the people that were pulled aside for interviews included Tourist visa applicants, Ed visa applicants and Non-O B applicants

50% of the people pulled aside were denied or 50% of the total number of people applying that morning?
