TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual applied for a DTV visa from Indonesia but received a TR (Tourist) visa instead. Responses from the community suggest that the authorities deemed the applicant's submitted activities insufficient to qualify for the DTV visa. As a result, they were issued a tourist visa which allows for a possible stay of up to 9 months, rather than the more extended DTV visa.

As all the soft power short term courses or doctors appointments does not need a special visa which gives a 6 years of stay.

You're welcome. Now go and find some other person looking for help and passive aggressively talk down to them. There's a good lad.

well, they didn't ask for your 'approval' when they created the DTV anyway.

I never mentioned that the OP applied for soft power.

I only mentioned that soft power activities do not need a dtv visa.

BUT was that not enough to laugh about for you, you needed more attention today?

They decided the activity you submitted did not warrant a 5-year visa. So they instead gave you a multiple entry tourist visa that can get you up to 9 months in Thailand.

It's generally advised to submit at least a year of activities if possible to avoid this from happening.

Yes, if they think you don’t qualify for a DTV, they may give you a tourist visa as a consultation prize. Soft power or nomad?
