Why was my DTV application approved while my partner's was rejected despite similar circumstances?

My partner and I applied on the same date for our DTV.

Both had the same amount of funds, both submitted the exact same proof info for our soft power DTV, both 100% put our personal info correctly.

However mine was approved and his wasn’t.

We can’t get our heads around this at all and find it really unfair.

Can this just be down to which officer checks your case?

Seems really disheartening.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses a situation where one partner's Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) application was approved while the other's was rejected, despite both submitting identical information and having similar financial backgrounds. The author is seeking clarity on the disparity and expresses feelings of unfairness. Several comments from the community suggest that it may depend on the specific officer handling the application, as many have experienced similar situations where visa approvals varied greatly even under comparable circumstances.

Same here—my friend and I have almost the same amount, the same career, the same travel history, and the same document structure. My friend got approved without any extra documents, while I received two document requests and was then rejected.🥲

Maybe you had a different visa history? Did your friend have bad visas, for example, visas from a university or other ones?

It depends on the officer in my opinion. My 2 friends and I (different passports) applied at hcmc with the same cooking school, all within 2 months apart. 2 of us were approved within a week without issues and the other was asked for further documentation and took double the time.

You hit the nail on the head with the reason methinks. It depends on the person reviewing. The first review will be by a local hire in the embassy or Consulate.

Anonymous participant Ok, I have seen similar posts before. Officers will approve differently. He should apply again/elsewhere. Others get approved 2nd time around. Your passports are both the same?

Of course it can be as simple as who is checking the application and it may well seem unfair but there is little anyone can do about it

All your partner can do is apply again or you could apply for a dependent on his behalf

Good luck

You asked if it was ‘down to the officer who checked’ to which I replied

You actually didn’t ask if anyone had experienced similar 🤣

Are you saying his application was rejected or cancelled, wording matters to help nail the reason.
