Why Was I Denied a 90-Day Extension on My Non-B ME Visa While My Friend Was Granted One?

Another Non B, multiple entry visa question.

A friend, reading this worked in another forum, went through the 90 day extension process in Chiang Mai and had his Non B, ME visa stamped for another 90 days. This seemed to be allowed as ME visa holders could not exercise the option of exiting/ entering to be issued another stamp. This happened on June 11 (5 days before his last stamp expired).

I then went to CM immigration to do the same thing on June 16 (the day before my last stamp expired) and was denied. The officer said I had to go on visa amnesty and wait to be told what to do as July 31st approached.

To me it seemed odd my friend was able to get a new stamp and I wasn’t only 5 days later. Has anybody else had success with this method of extending a Non B, ME visa? Or know of somebody else that has?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience of being denied a 90-day extension on their Non-B multiple entry visa in Chiang Mai, despite a friend being granted the extension shortly before them. The user questions the inconsistency and seeks information on whether others have successfully extended their visas using the same method.

I believe your friend did NOT get a 90 day Non-B extension at all. There is no 90 day extension on a Non-B inside the country (not even during the covid-19 crisis), you either apply for a year extension or you go on amnesty like everyone else.

C/M immigration was correct, IF you hold a year-multi-Non-B visa where you bounce out and back every 90 days when your 90 day stamp runs out you go on amnesty AND you waid for the announcement telling amnesty holders what they need to do

Well, he obtained an additional stamp and has a Non B, ME visa but I agree something seems odd. I feel better knowing I was given the correct info from immigration and there wasn’t a miscommunication. Thanks for the feedback.
