Hi guys,

I was on a Non B visa and it expired. I went out of Thailand with visa run company and re enter on a 30 days visa stamp(no visa). Waiting for new paperworks to be done.

The guy from visa run company told me I couldn't get an extension at the immigration in Phuket. My french consulate told me the opposite... I will go to the immigration to check it out. But why.....

- Why so many different answers from the borders, the visa run company, the consulate...?

- I had to pay 2000 baht extra at the border because I didn't have paper to say I stop my previous job. Everybody on the visa run had to pay some extra money(from 500 to 2000 baht). Is it normal?

So frustating to have so many different answers!!!

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user expresses frustration over receiving conflicting information regarding their visa status after re-entering Thailand on a 30-day visa stamp following the expiration of a Non-B visa. They are confused by differing answers from the visa run company and their consulate regarding the possibility of extending their stay and are also concerned about having to pay extra fees at the border.

If you were on the initial entry of the Non-B visa it would have canceled when you left the country. However if you were on an extension of stay based on employment (that you got at the immigration office for 1900baht) you should have canceled that at the immigration office BEFORE you exited the country.

You can get a 30 day extension on a 30 day visa exempt entry at your local immigration office for 1900baht.

@Sha***
, get a paper from your school stating your contract cancels on the 31st, go to the immigration office before that date and cancel your current extension. They will stamp you in until the 31st (the day your contract ends).

Then go to the section that does extensions based on being over 50 (retirement) and apply for a year extension by meeting the financial requirements of 800K baht banked in a bank account in your name for 60 days before your application, a letter from your consulate stating you get 65K baht a month in income from abroad OR a combination of the two that equals 800K baht for a year.

Right ๐Ÿ™‚I didnโ€™t know that thanks...So my contract with the school ends on 31st Jan should I go to immigration on that day or before( if I go before do I have to stop working from the day I apply)?

you are canceling your extension based on employment in one section of the immigration office and then immediately going to the section that does extensions based on being over 50 (retirement).

@Sha***
, you don't NEED a Non-O visa :/ the requirement to get an extension of stay based on being over 50 (retirement) is that you held a Non-Immigrant visa before.,You already had a Non-Immigrant Type B visa when you started getting extensions based on employment, now you're just changing the reason you're getting an extension from employment to being over 50 (retirement).
Shauny *****
So I apply for extension before the non o visa?
Tod *********
@Sha***
, you have to cancel your Non-B extension AND apply for the new extension based on retirement on the same day at the same time.

So i will get the letter from my school canceling my extension on the 31st Jan 2018 when should i go to immigration with the letter and paperwork for the non 0 and apply?
Shauny *****
Thanks Tod

@Shauny ****
You take paperwork from your employer stating you are canceling the extension of stay based on employment on x date and you immediately apply for an extension of stay based on being over 50 (retirement) by meeting the requirements.

I have seen it done many, many times in Bangkok without a hitch. Now whether the immigration office where you are will do it I dunno.

Totally, IF you were still on the original 90 days of the Non-B and stop working the company can't cancel the visa and you're allowed to stay until the "admitted until" stamp says.

@Tod ********
, that's what I thought and my consulate told me the same thing also.

But before getting into the van, I had to pay 2000 baht extra(on top of the visa run transport).

The reason: I am going out fron a non b and re enter without a visa, and I dont have paperworks to prove that I stop working...

He told me that was the same thing as overstay, had to pay 500 baht per day from the day I stop working until the day I exit the country. Scam?

@Dave *****
you shouldn't have paid a dime to exit the country that 90 day Non-B cancels as soon as you're stamped out of the country :(

If you hold a french passport you get a 30 day visa exempt entry and you can extend that by 30 more days no problem 100% sure

I was on a 3 months non b visa, no extension.

So annoying with the visa run guy that say I cannot have the 30 days extension. He is 100% sure also. He told me I have to get out again.
