Just found this message logging into my krungsri account with browser. Anyone an idea what this means or reason Krungsri stops online banking service registration now as not opening any bank accounts to farangs like the other bank branches in Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Krungsri Bank has reportedly stopped online banking service registrations for foreigners (farangs) as part of a broader trend among banks in Thailand aimed at enhancing security and reducing fraud. Many banks in Thailand are shifting to mobile banking applications, which offer more controlled access through verified phone numbers. This change could also be influenced by government regulations increasing banks' responsibilities in fraud cases, leading to the discontinuation of certain online services.
I tried to book a flight Chiang Mai Bangkok using Visa with my German Bank Account. Couldnt do it because the Identifikation App didn’t work in Thailand. Couldnt pay with Visa, unbelievable. So I went to a travel agency close by the hotel who did it for me for a small fee, actually. I heard they offer this kind of service in 7 11 close by also. You identify and they transfer the money 💰 using your Visa. Amazing. You couldn’t get that service in a German supermarket. Kind people

Existing customers can continue to use the service as usual.
So no problem at all!!

Is having a Google account becoming a prerequisite for banking now?

The internet we use today is a POS, it will soon be replaced so these services will be redundant.
I can't complain about them. I was able to open a bank account with a touristvisa at the KhonKaen branch, and they always have good and friendly service.

Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn Bank also neglect the desktop version of their online banking services. Many functions are missing or don't work. I suspect they'll discontinue their service completely soon, too. But that's not a problem; everyone has a mobile phone these days. This service is being continued and constantly improved. And anyone who can use the desktop version should be able to handle the mobile version as well. BTW, in 12 years I have never used the desktop version.
Bangkok bank’s website works just fine. I never use an app for banking. It’s less secure in my opinion. Phones get lost, left behind and stolen all the time. People often use public WiFi with them, which isn’t secure at all.
Yes totally agree with you and many were upset initially.. But I guess banks in Thailand must have done risk benefit and probability analysis whereby they might hv found that you are at risk only when your mobile is hacked or lost, while on website anyone sitting anywhere in the world can hack your account. And if mobile is hacked due to you clicking any link or it getting lost will be your situational fault but NetBanking is open house invitation to the world hackers to sit and try their luck anytime anywhere with any account and also data theft too
It makes me so happy that you have 24 years of experience with SCB, and yet you know that BB and KB are useless today. Cheers to your clairvoyant abilities.
Why criticize and unnecessary spoil name of banks. How can you have problem with SCB NetBanking while they already stopped this service long back ? But I guess it is for safety of everyone.
in germany the DKB Bank do this also and the others will follow. there is no realy need for a desktop version when the smatphone version works perfect.
I believe many of the banks are stopping to offer online services. They only want people to use the mobile app, because they can restrict that to a single phone number they know is registered to the same name as the person on the account. It's a new measure because the Thai government is going to start holding the banks responsible when there are frauds and scams, so the banks are closing all the possibilities that they can.
Okay, existing users can still use the internet site with a browser but y'r right, maybe more will follow and stop using this. I still use the sites sometimes e.g. to make a print. With the apps (don't know Krungsri), making a screenprint is blocked. Also there are a bit more options on the browser sites, e.g. I can see the balance in my Fixed deposit account, which I cannot add in the app. I have Bangkok bank and Kasikorn bank. Hopefuly they continue a while.
